Excellent Seafood Inland

It's hard to find top class ceviche in Belize outside Corozal or San Pedro for example - worse if you are inland. A friend recently introduced me to Cevi Chelas in of all places - Benque Viejo del Carmen.

EXCELLENT ceviches, generous portions, ice cold beers. The chopped up habanero is served separately so you can add as much as you can take. They also have traditional Rice and Beans, fried fish etc. Open 5pm - 10pm Tues and Wed. 11 am 11pm Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun.

The joint is in a garden under a house on Burns Street. Family operated. Very clean and cool.

As you enter the main boulevard of Benque headed west, after the very first pedestrian crossing look for a yellow Cevi Chelas sign on your left that points to Burns street which is on your right.
